Water Drops

One of the reasons I wanted to buy a new camera and a new flash was so that I could recreate my favorite photographs and styles. I've always found photographs of water droplets to be really cool. They look like they take a lot of work to do and when I see them I always kind of say "Wow." I set up a little home kit and here are the results.  If you want to do it yourself, here's how.  You need an off camera flash, a macro lens, a bowl of water and a colorful background to put behind the bowl.  Set the camera aperture to f8 and the shutter speed to 1/250.  Set the flash to 1/16 power.  I used a plastic bag filled with water to drip.  For me the focusing was the hardest part.  Pick a spot in the bowl, put a pen in the spot and focus on the pen.  Take the pen out and drop the water in the focused spot.

Here's the guide I used. http://strobist.blogspot.kr/2009/05/how-to-photograph-water-drops-with-one.html

The results are impressive, but once the technical camera stuff is out of the way, it's pretty easy.  Here are my best ten.

All of these were touched up in Lightroom to get the colors.  Overall I'm pretty happy for the first attempt, but I feel like I can do more.  I'm trying to think about what else I could drop into the water.  Any ideas?
